Vakho (Vakhtang) Janezashvili joined BGI Legal as a junior associate in 2014. His practice areas include general commercial law, international law, project and trade finance, property and land, corporate governance, litigation and arbitration.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Janezashvili worked as a consultant at Treaty Effectiveness Initiative. His main activities included analysing and providing legal advice in relation to institutional management and the national implementation of various aspects of international law. His professional experience also includes serving as a legal advisor for the Government of Georgia and working as an intern for the Legal Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament.
In summer 2014, Mr. Janezashvili served as a legal intern in the General Counsel of the Rome-based International Fund for Agricultural Development – a major international financial institution.
Following graduation as a bachelor of law from Tbilisi State University, Mr. Janezashvili subsequently gained masters' degrees in International and European Law from Erasmus University, Rotterdam and in Rule of Law for Development from Loyola University, Chicago. He has participated in various prestigious moot court competitions, including the international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup Competition, (Washington D.C.). He has been a recipient of numerous merit-based scholarships and fellowships.
Together with his native Georgian, he is fluent in English, French and Russian, with basic knowledge of Italian. He is a member of Georgian Bar.
